The ministry of The Petersburg Players was formed by our former Pastor, The Reverend Rein Krone. The majority of the players are members of the Petersburg Church, but regularly are joined by a few other people in the community. There is never a shortage of those who want to be a part of our performances, including our young people.

Two full length plays, One Foot in Heaven and Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus were performed on the stage of Springfield High School.

The one act plays, Who Am I and Baby's First Christmas were performed in the sanctuary of our church.

We traveled with the remaining performances, Construction, The Devil and Danielle Webster, and The 25 Cent Ministry, ministering to over 12 churches.

It has been inspiring to The Petersburg Players to realize the talent that God has given to them. More importantly, the fun, fellowship and love that we share with each other is beyond comprehension.

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. This program of Samaritan’s Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift. Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own language. In 2004, Samaritan's Purse collected over 7 million shoe box gifts worldwide and distributed them to children in 95 countries.

Around the world, children are running out of hope,and running out of time. That's why Christian Children's Fund is hard at work providing nutritious food, healthcare, education, and so much more. Our goal is to help every child develop their full physical, mental, and social potential. And to help them become self-reliant, contributing members of their communities.

CCF was founded by a Presbyterian minister, Dr. J. Calvitt Clarke, who had witnessed, first-hand, the devastation caused by war. Christian Children's Fund, which was originally called China Children's Fund, began helping the children of China in 1938 and innovated the concept of "child sponsorship." Dr. Clarke went on to dedicate his life to helping children in orphanages throughout Asia. After devoting almost five decades to his mission, Dr. Clarke and his wife retired in 1983.

Michael and Irene Sivalee have served as missionaries in Brazil for many years. They have worked in many areas of the country, mainly participating in the education and training of Brazilians who will continue to spread the word of God in their country through the ministry and Christian education. Our church has been helping to support their work for many years through our Directed Mission Support to General Assembly.
